MAGYAROK AZ OLIMPIÁN – 125 ÉV SIKEREI SZÁMOKBAN // HUNGARIANS AT THE OLYMPICS – 125 YEARS IN NUMBERS

A quick project made for the Olympics, published a day after the end of the 2020/21 Tokyo Summer Olympics. I worked on this one with a university student very much interested in data visualization. Initially, I only imagined it to be a small static data visualization/infographic, only published on Átlátszó. I quickly realized what massive data has gathered in the past 125 years, and how successful Hungarians has been on the Olympic Games. As a tribute to Hungarian olympians, we analyzed and visualized all Hungarian winners of the modern Olympic Games, looking at aspects such as medals won, top sportspeople, popular sports, gender ratio, and future outlooks. The data was easily accessible on the website of the Hungarian Olympian Committee, and for cross-checking, on Wikipedia. For national data, we used Wikipedia and a thorough database found on Kaggle. All charts were made in Flourish, with a bit of coding for the ranking charts and visual post-production in Photoshop for the map and the olympian cards.
